Despite the obvious challenge of Bub's feeding tube, 14 months is a really fun age. They're walking, communicating (or at least putting two syllables together), completing small tasks, and learning to play with each other. Well, until one of them realizes, "Hey I had that first." In order to avoid a fight, a tantrum, or a mildly sadistic chase scene (or all three), I've found the following "distractions" work the best: a favorite toy, a treat (M&M's work the best), or music (Taylor Swift is *still* the CD of choice).
Bub LIKES ...
- Finding a roll of toilet paper and unraveling the whole thing
- Pretending to throw a tantrum just to get picked up
- Wheeling the highchairs in a circle around the kitchen, and back and forth into the dining room
- Walking into the laundry room and pointing at his coat whenever it's time to "go bye bye"
- Taking turns between driving his grocery cart, Geffy (the giraffe), and anything else with wheels in a circle around the house
Favorite Foods:
You have no idea how happy it makes me to write that Bub is actually showing some interest in eating. He doesn't eat a lot, only a few bites at a time, but even that is an encouraging first step. What he will eat is fruit. Particularly mandarin oranges, pears, peaches, and banana. He'll also snack on string cheese, yogurt bites, Cinnamon Maple puffs, and graham crackers.
Clothing Sizes:
12-18 month pants
18 month onesies and pajamas
18-24 month shirts

Fin LIKES ...
- Waving bye-bye from the front door
- Putting her hand to her ear every time she hears the phone ring
- Screaming and pointing whenever she wants something (and then screaming some more!)
- Shrugging her shoulders when she does something she's not supposed to
- Keeping one foot still and pirouetting in a circle
- Wash cloths
- Wash cloths
- Pulling her socks and shoes off anytime we're in the car, which she thinks is HIL-AR-I-OUS
Favorite Foods:
Eggs! Every morning without fail. She'll also eat yogurt, waffles, pears, mandarin oranges, string cheese, Oma's homemade dutch soup, mashed potatoes and gravy, scalloped potatoes (sometimes), spinach and cheese ravioli with alfredo sauce, green beans, yogurt bites, graham crackers, and of course P.irates B.ooty (she'd eat it all day if we let her).
Clothing Sizes:
18 month onesies and pajamas
18-24 month shirts and pants
Lately I've been feeling very blessed to be able to stay home with my kids. It's hard work (by far the toughest thing I've ever done), but what could be more important than watching my kids grow up. Literally GROW UP before my very eyes. I also get to lead them, teach them, encourage them, and most importantly, show them how much I love them.
