Oma is known in our family for having quirky sayings. This morning after we finally got Bub to eat a few bites of yogurt, she said "Some days peanuts, some days shells. Today is a peanuts day!"
As you can see, he's so much happier with a little food in his belly. This is actually from lunch when I tried bribing him with a cinnamon and sugar bagel bite. He's wearing just about as much of it as he ate, but a few bites is better than nothing.
As for Oma's sayings, here's a few more ...
"Six of one, half dozen of another."
"All horse and no saddle."
"Not the sharpest tool in the shed."
Usually I just smile and roll my eyes. But rolling my eyes in an "Oh mom, not again" kind of way, not a "high school know-it-all" kind of way.
What she was trying to tell me (in her own way) is to be thankful for the days when everything falls into place, and just go with the flow on days when nothing seems to go right. Easier said than done, but I'll give it my best try.
MORE PEANUTS, PLEASE!
