It was just seven days ago that I posted this. I think my exact words were, "Today we had partial blue sky and absolutely no chance of snow." Yeah well, not exactly true.
We ended up getting almost 3 inches.
As soon as Bub saw the snow, he couldn't put his jacket on and get outside fast enough. He loves being outside no matter what (and no matter the weather), but the snow made it that much more exciting. Plus there was the newness factor. "I've never seen this stuff before, but I'm pretty sure as a boy I'm supposed to like it!" Technically he saw much more of it last year, and for a much longer period of time, but it's not quite the same when you're just barely born.
It took him a while to understand that snow makes the ground slick and icy. He was so eager and so curious, and even though he kept falling, he was in a full sprint all over the neighborhood. He would make it about ten steps before losing his balance and down he'd go. But just as quickly, he was back up and off in a different direction. He did eventually start to slow down, and then this happened ....
You could just tell he was trying to figure out "What are these things and why are they following me?" It was one of those moments when I really wished he could talk (or I could read his mind) because I knew he was experiencing something for the first time. And I would have loved to know what he was thinking.
As for Fin, I'm thinking she would have preferred staying inside where it was warm and dry. Yet another trait she inherited from her Mom!
She was outside maybe two minutes before her teeth started chattering. She saw Bub falling all over the place and even though he was having a grand time, you could tell she was content being held. "I can see the snow just fine from up here, thank you very much!" As soon as her nose and cheeks were the color of her hat (thank you Nana Debbie for the awesome X-mas gift), dh opted to take her back inside. Where she was much happier.
