Promotion Day!

Today my hubby got promoted to the prestigious rank of Detective.

The kids and I got up early (thankfully they were surprisingly cooperative) so we could make it downtown by 8:30.  The ceremony was held in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  Even though I used to work less than a block away, I've actually never been inside City Hall (gasp!).  My immediate reaction was how beautiful it was, from the copper plated staircases to the two large glass atriums in the center of the building.

By the time we got there the first floor was completely full, so we sat upstairs.  The kids did great and sat quietly for most of the ceremony.  After the swearing in, the Chief spoke for several minutes.  Most notably, the Chief described hubby as "incredibly talented" and "one of the hardest working people in the Bureau". 

One of the things I love most about my hubby is how much he loves his job.  He is one of those rare people who truly, genuinely, and without regret wants to go to work every day.  I'm sure it doesn't hurt that he's also extremely good at what he does.
