2 Year Update

Tomorrow we'll be celebrating BUB AND FIN'S TWO YEAR BIRTHDAY!!!!  The guest list for Wednesday (their actual birthday) is my immediate family only.  But not to worry, we have two more parties scheduled.  Saturday with some of our friends and neighbors, and Sunday with dh's side of the family.  Last year we did a combined-invite-everyone-open-house, and not that it wasn't a success, but this year we decided to keep it small(er) and spread things out over a couple days.  Although now that I think about it, I'll have to clean and tidy the house 3 times instead of just once.  Oh well, it's totally worth it!

As far as I can tell, Bub and Fin are "typical" two-year olds.  Meaning, they ...

- scream, hit, kick, and bite when don't get their way.

- get frustrated and upset easily.

- assert themselves by saying "NO" and claiming everything is "MINE".

- express anger by crying, throwing things, and striking out.

- are possessive of toys, books, dolls, blankies, stuffed animals (I could keep going, but you get the idea!).

- act out sometimes without a clear reason.

They're also the sweetest and happiest kids on the planet.  Well, my planet at least!

Their vocabulary has just about surpassed what I can put in list form, including several more two-word phrases.

- Daddy Work
- Pops Work
- Oma Here
- Daddy Police
- Ladder Truck
- Me Pretty (we've tried getting Bub to say "Me Handsome" but not quite there yet)
- That Way
- Mia Poop
- Up Please
- Water
- Out
- Big
- Shoes
- Boat
- Wagon
- Hot
- Cold
- Down
- Kick
- Binkie
- Blankie
- Icky
- Mint
- Apple
- Grape
- Cheese
- Mush (combination of "move" and "push")
- Wash

They can also say (and point out) most colors.  Whenever I ask Fin what Mommy's favorite color is, she immediately blurts out "yel-yo".  Bub likes to declare everything is "geen", even though he knows it isn't.

They recognize most of the animals in their alphabet books and DVD's.  Fin especially likes the chapter in one of their Brainy Baby DVD's called "Animal Alphabet".  Her favorite ones to say are: cat, dog, goose, moose, rabbit, squirrel (which she acts out by holding her hands by her mouth and wiggling her fingers .. it's quite adorable), and urchin.  That last one is hard but she gets it out there like it's nothing.

Bub LIKES ....

- Using his rake, hoe, and shovel to pull weeds, move dirt from place to place, and generally reek havoc on our yard
- Looking for bugs
- Jumping off things (no matter how high)
- Putting his play screwdriver, wrench, or hammer in his belt loop so he can "do work"
- His new "pedal-less" Haro Run Bike (more on this to come in a separate post)
- Going to the chiropractor (he calls it going to the "doc-tah")
- Marching
- Dinosaurs
- Walking backwards
